I love stories.

Hailing from the sunny island of Malta, I am a writer, editor, and former agency reader with a Master's in Publishing and Creative Writing from Kingston University. Over the last decade, I've been working with agents, publishers, authors, and readers to find and develop stories with an impact. In addition to providing editorial services to authors, I've been involved in projects ranging from grassroots publications such as the Stejjer Imfewħa artistic heritage initiative to longstanding periodicals including THINK magazine and Encore arts and culture. I also participate as a reader for the UK-based WriteMentor children's writing awards.

When I’m not editing your work I’m writing my own. I've been shortlisted for both PRH's Write Now Scheme and Gollancz's Rivers of London Award (now the Future Worlds Prize), with short pieces published in Ember Journal and CRAFT Literary, among others. Here are just a few of the people and projects I've been lucky to work with. And of course, if you want to know more about my services, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Testimonials

Sara O'Keefe | Literary Agent, ACM

Amy Borg is a fantastically talented and experienced book editor. She has a lovely, collaborative and encouraging way of working with authors. I have previously commissioned Amy to work on full structural edits, line-edits and reader’s reports and have always found her work to be of the highest standard. She is a pleasure to work with and can be trusted to steer writers through the editorial process from raw manuscript to finished book. I would highly recommend her.

Julia Boggio | SHOOTERS

Amy is a talented editor and it was a pleasure to work with her. In my case she had the tough job of removing 8k words from the manuscript after I’d already been through it twice, without losing any story. She did an amazing job. When she handed it back to me, my book sparkled. When I heard back from agents that I had queried, both of the agents who ended up offering me representation said that it was the cleanest debut they’d ever received. Thanks, Amy!

Christoph Von Toggenburg | Impact Leader and Author of BIKE FOR HELP and LOVE, WAR, HOPE

Amy has been of great support in making my books shine. She has a very analytical and systematic mindset which helped me to dramatically improve my writing.

Cassi C. | Writer and Editor

Laura A. | Dior or Die

Gives excellent input on how to improve my pages every time. She's a master at assisting writers in making their work better. I highly recommend her services!

Michael G. | The Fire I Called

Amy was friendly, professional, and most important: qualified. Amy worked her magic on my manuscript and I couldn't be happier.

David Mizzi | Editor of THINK

Amy’s proofreading has helped THINK Magazine immensely. Her keen eye for detail has ensured that each article we publish is of the highest quality. She understands our often tight deadlines and has always delivered in a timely manner. She is certainly an asset to any team she works with. I would strongly recommend her for her impeccable work ethic and professionalism.

Gabby M. | Skyscraper

Amy's advice has been invaluable. She has a knack for pinpointing exactly what isn't working in a manuscript, and the suggestions she offers are clear and actionable. I'm very much looking forward to working with her again in future!
